If we have our own why in life, we shall get along with almost any how. Man does not strive for pleasure; only the Englishman does.
we talked about this nietzsche quote in 331 today. when our boy friedrich wrote this, he was comparing how all men are concerned with existential questions, when englishmen are only concerned with what will please them more.
this sort of applies to our generation today. we are so damn concerned with “what will i get more out of” that we miss the really important stuff. we’re obsessed with the little what-can-do-more-for-me things and we completely miss the what-can-I-do things. not to sound overly john f. kennedy but it’s just concerning: we’re a selfish generation.
